Our Story
Vince's Italian Restaurant was founded on May 20th 1960 by Vincenzo and Maria Perfili. Prior to that Vincenzo was working as a policeman in Rome when he decided to immigrate to the United States with his family.

He settled in Detroit where he got a job working at the Cadillac Fleetwood Plant in Southwest Detroit. In the early years Vincenzo's fellow workers at the plant would order there pizza and Maria would delver the order to the plant during lunch.

Eventually the little pizza parlor grew into a full service restaurant that you see today. Over the years the restaurant has gone threw a number of changes and updates, but what has never changed is the feeling that you are dining in someone's home.

Go into an old section of any big city, and chances are you'll find an Italian restaurant like ours, tucked away in a neighborhood that has seen better days, and deeply rooted in traditions that retain a character that can't be replicated.

The Perfili and Improta families of Vince's have never considered moving out of the southwest Detroit neighborhood where the restaurant was founded as a four-table pizza parlor in the spring of 1960. There would be no relocation for the restaurant named for Maria's husband, the late Vincenzo. Vince's will be marking its 50th anniversary this year, making it one of Detroit's oldest family run establishments.
