The Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage living in the United States and Canada.  The Holiday focusses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and to remember friends and relatives who have passed away.  Traditions include building private alters honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed.  The day is a celebration if the lives of those we love, and a commitment to never forget.
