As in previous years, the community of Southwest Detroit invites and welcomes visitors from all over the state of Michigan and extends an invitation to our neighbors in Windsor and Ohio to join us for the weekend celebration.
The Metro Detroit Mexican community will celebrate the holiday, the history, the music, the food, and the arts of Mexico. The 2012 Cinco de mayo celebration will be a family focused party and provide entertainment that caters to children and grandparents alike.
The Bagley fiesta site will have a variety of outdoor family entertainment venues for the children, games and arts & crafts. There will be a stage hosting live performances, such as folklorico dancers and mariachi bands. The parade features traditional floats, chorro groups, several Latin bands and local school bands.
You can toast the holiday at one of the many restaurants in the area with dinner and a margarita. Try some pan dulce (sweet treats) at the Mexican pastry shops located throughout the community. Shop at the local Mexican markets that offer all the ingredients you need to make your own authentic homemade Mexican dinner.
